Nicholas practices in employment law and commercial litigation.

Nicholas has experience and acts in all State and Federal civil jurisdictions, including the Supreme Court of Western Australia and the Federal Court of Australia, and industrial tribunals and anti-discrimination commissions, including the Fair Work Commission and the Western Australian Industrial Relations Commission.

Nicholas also has experience acting in Royal Commissions and inquiries, having previously been the Solicitor Assisting the Inquiry into the City of Perth where he appeared as Counsel Assisting the Inquiry.

Nicholas advises on and acts in matters involving:

  • termination of employment, including claims for unfair dismissal, breach of contract and contraventions of general protections;
  • statutory employment rights and obligations, including under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and superannuation legislation;
  • misconduct and investigations, including fraud, theft and sexual harassment;
  • whistleblowers, including the whistleblower protections under the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth);
  • restraints of trade and confidential information;
  • general commercial and shareholder disputes, including claims for breach of contract, misleading and deceptive conduct and for oppression under Corporations Act 2001 (Cth).
