Our social commitment

Pro bono focus

We believe all people deserve access to legal services and appropriate representation; our legal system is built on this principle

We acknowledge and appreciate those individuals and organisations working in our community for the public good, and provide high quality legal assistance to help them advance their cause.

Our dedicated Pro Bono Committee is led by two Principals and a Pro Bono Coordinator, all focused on promoting a pro bono culture and a commitment to social justice within our firm. We are proud of our pro bono commitment and through this work our people have the opportunity to contribute their specialist expertise, skills, and time to the community. We strongly encourage our team to be involved in this work.

We provide legal support and assistance to:

  • community legal centres or groups who would benefit from our specialised expertise;
  • disadvantaged or marginalised individuals who cannot access the legal system without incurring significant financial hardship;
  • individuals or organisations whose matter raises an issue of public interest; and
  • charities or other non-profit organisations who work on behalf of disadvantaged or marginalised individuals, or for the public good.

We also have strong relationships with Identitywa, Law Access, Radio Lollipop, Ember Connect and the WA Justice Association to provide ongoing pro bono support.

To learn more about our pro bono work or to apply for pro bono support, please contact one of our pro bono Principals, Thaw Thaw Htin or Amy Rumble.

“The skills and service demonstrated by the Bennett team were exceptional. It is a relief to know there are still professionals around with such strong integrity, compassion, and drive to stand up for justice.”
