MSLS Hosts: (L-R) Educations Vice President, Krisha Thakar, 2025 President, Joie Ng (34th president of MSLS), Principal and Head of Intellectual Property, Dave Stewart and Educations Officer, Micaela Grant

Guest: Bennett’s Head of Intellectual Property and Murdoch Law Alumni, Dave Stewart

We were pleased to welcome the Murdoch Student Law Society back to our offices for another episode of their podcast series, “Under the Wig.”

In this episode, hosts Joie Ng, Krisha Thakar and Micaela Grant sat down with Dave Stewart, Head of Intellectual Property, recognised as Western Australia’s preeminent trade mark lawyer and the 4th president of MSLS, who played a pivotal role in launching MSLS in 1990.

Dave is the current coordinator of the Murdoch Law Alumni association, and he spoke about the early history of MSLS, his experience in the very first days of the School of Law at Murdoch University, and where some of his fellow graduates have ended up in their often non-linear careers.

A big thank you to the Murdoch Student Law Society team for another great discussion!
