Bennett Marks Fifteen Years

Bennett – Litigation and Commercial Law celebrated its 15th Anniversary on 13 February 2026 at Matilda Bay, overlooking the Derbarl Yerrigan on the traditional lands of the Wadjak People of the Great Noongar Nation.

In his address, Founder Martin Bennett reflected on the significance of anniversaries. It is a moment to pause, assess and look forward. Since its establishment in 2011, Bennett has grown into a nationally recognised commercial and litigation practice, known for its willingness to take on complex and high-profile disputes.

Over 15 years, the firm has received more than 900 written decisions across Western Australia and Federally, including in the High Court, averaging more than one judgment every week since its founding. Each decision represents a client who entrusted Bennett with matters of deep importance and a team committed to disciplined preparation, strategic thinking and teamwork.

Martin acknowledged the profound shifts shaping the legal profession, from the acceleration of technology and artificial intelligence to evolving court processes and expectations of access to justice. He reaffirmed Bennett’s commitment to remaining agile and adaptive, including undertaking a comprehensive review of practice and operations to ensure Bennett continues to deliver elite legal services in a changing landscape.

The anniversary also marked Bennett’s continued evolution, with the recent appointments of Rachel Ross and Shemali Samaraweera as Principals reflecting strength in leadership and succession.

As part of the evening, Managing Principal Nathan Ebbs reflected on a symbolic milestone in the journey, the Bennett signage now prominently displayed on the Westralia Square Building. More than a name on a façade, the signage represents 15 years of dedication, reputation and hard-earned trust. It stands as a visible marker within Western Australia’s city landscape, setting a confident statement of its future.

While the statistics shared on the night are significant, the evening was ultimately about people: the clients who place their trust in Bennett, the alumni whose imprint remains part of its legacy and the team whose collective effort defines its success.

Fifteen years on, Bennett remains grounded in its foundation and firmly focused on the future.
